Blush 101

Blush has to be the most misunderstood of beauty products. Many avoid using blush due to a fear of looking clown-like. For others, blush seems to be their drug of choice. Are you missing out on a youthful glow? Here are a few tips to take some of the mystery out of blush application.
  • Select shades to compliment your skin tone, such as peach or apricot. You can also take a hint from your lipstick shade. There's no need to match your blush to the fuchsia top you're wearing.
  • Deep skin tones can opt for bronzing powder, for a sun-kissed glow.
  • Less IS more. Begin with a light application, building up to the desired intensity. Its much easier to add more product than it is trying to remove excess.
  • With a soft powder brush lightly apply to the cheekbones, blending toward the hairline.
  • Ok, so you went overboard with the blush application, blend a translucent powder over the blush to tone it down for a more natural finish.
  • Blush should not go past the bottom of the nose. Applying blush too low ages you.
  • Powder blusher is best for use on for oily/ combination skin types. If you have dry skin, cream blusher is worth a try.

As with the rest of your makeup, its all about having fun. Experiment with different products till you find what suits you best.
